Contextual Extraction

To optimize any interaction being processed in the IPS, VP and LB, as a rule, recall similar earlier interactions to retrieve, based on what was stored on earlier occasions, their associated memories, locations, subjective experiences, emotions, etc., to see it in different contexts (while processing objects, people, scenarios, etc.) (More under title Awareness).

For the same reason, if you have had an experience before, e.g., of eating a cake, and you either imagine, recall or see someone eating it, you will have the feeling of eating it (unless VP is busy or ignores it), the reason for which is, as per the above, planning the action also retrieves the associated effects that went with similar earlier actions, which in this case is the feeling you had (i.e. its taste) when you ate the cake earlier.

The same is the basis of the phenomenon of Classical Conditioning (also called Pavlovian Conditioning), discovered by Russian physiologist Ivan Pavlov in 1927.

Understanding How We Understand

The system of B-ROM and CB-ROMs using common resources and recalling associated effects for contextual extraction, in the way explained by the DOS model, is at the root of human empathy and also plays a major role in human learning. DOS model not only explains such ubiquitous, but yet unresolved phenomena, but puts them in the reach of general population.
